According to Marg Iwen's "Shield F,The Federal Glass Company", on page 88, the "shield-shaped graphic without the F, comprising three stars in the upper half with three vertical dark bars below the midline appeared on the cover of a pasteboard container which held thin-blown tumblers. This box of tumblers was featured in a Federal advertisement in the "Crockery and Glass Journal", January 10, 1927."
